What FairwayWise Is

Q: Do you sell golf clubs?
A: No. FairwayWise is an independent publication, not a store. There is no checkout on this site, and we cannot take an order. We write guides that help you decide what to buy, then link you to retailers who sell it.

Q: So how does the site make money?
A: Affiliate commissions. Some links here are affiliate links — if you click one and buy something, the retailer pays us a small percentage. It costs you nothing extra; the price is the same whether you use our link or not. That commission never decides what we recommend. Read our Affiliate Disclosure for the full detail.

Q: Do you actually test the products you write about?
A: No, and we are direct about that. We do not own test units, we do not buy samples, and we do not accept free products from manufacturers. Our guides are built from manufacturer specifications, published product data, retailer listings, and owner feedback — forum threads, reviews, and long-term reports. Where a claim cannot be checked against a source we can point at, we say so or leave it out. Our Editorial Policy explains the process.

Q: Who writes this?
A: FairwayWise is an independent publication about golf gear — see our About page. Our research is assisted by AI tools for gathering and organizing sources; every guide is reviewed and edited by a person before it goes live, and the judgements about what matters are made by people. That is spelled out in full in the Editorial Policy, because you would find out anyway.

About PGM Golf

Q: Are PGM golf clubs actually good? Or is this cheap stuff from China?
A: PGM is a serious manufacturer, not a generic badge. They run their own production facility in Foshan, Guangdong, employ a large in-house R&D team, and hold a substantial patent portfolio. Their clubs pass R&A and USGA conformance testing. The reason a PGM driver costs less than a TaylorMade or Callaway is not that it is cheaply made — it is that PGM does not spend on PGA Tour sponsorships. For a deeper dive, read our full PGM brand overview.

Q: How does PGM compare to Callaway, TaylorMade, Ping, and the rest?
A: For beginners and recreational golfers, PGM holds its own. You get modern materials — titanium faces, graphite shafts, CNC-milled putter faces — solid build quality, and real performance at a fraction of the price. For scratch golfers and tournament players, the premium brands still win on fine-tuned feel, exotic shaft options, and custom fitting networks. That said, PGM has closed much of the gap in putters and game-improvement irons. See our PGM brand overview for side-by-side comparisons.

Q: Are PGM products covered by warranty?
A: PGM offers a manufacturer warranty on its products, and coverage periods vary by category — commonly around a year for clubs and shorter for bags and accessories. Because we are not the seller, warranty service runs through the manufacturer and the retailer you bought from. Check the warranty terms on the retailer’s page before you buy, since that is the contract that governs your purchase.

Q: Do you cover anything besides PGM?
A: PGM is our focus because it is where we can add the most value — a brand that competes on specification rather than sponsorship, and one that most buyers have questions about. Where a guide compares PGM against another brand, we include the competitor on its merits.

Choosing the Right Product

Q: I am a beginner. What should I buy first?
A: Start with a complete set. A typical beginner set includes a driver, a fairway wood, a hybrid, irons, a putter, and a stand bag — everything you need to walk onto a course for the first time. Play a season with it before upgrading anything, because your own game will tell you what to change far better than a spec sheet will. Our beginner buying guide walks through the options in detail.

Q: How do I know which putter is right for me?
A: Putter fit comes down to three things: your stroke path (straight back or arcing), your preferred head shape (blade, mallet, or high-MOI), and the feel you like off the face. Our PGM putters guide covers the range and maps each model to stroke type and skill level. Still unsure? Email us and describe your putting — we will point you at two or three candidates to try.

Q: Steel shafts or graphite shafts?
A: The short answer: most recreational players benefit from graphite in drivers and woods, where the lighter weight buys swing speed, and steel in irons, where it buys control and costs less. The longer answer depends on your swing speed, tempo, and ball flight. Our steel vs graphite guide breaks it down by skill level and swing characteristics.

Q: What size golf grip do I need?
A: Most adult men fit standard or midsize; most women fit standard or undersize. The wrong grip size can cause a slice or a hook without you ever realising why. Our grip size guide includes an at-home measuring method — all you need is a ruler, and it takes two minutes.

Q: How many clubs am I allowed to carry?
A: Fourteen is the limit under the Rules of Golf. Most golfers carry fewer, and most beginners need fewer. Our guide to bag composition covers how to fill the slots without carrying clubs you never hit.

Buying and Prices

Q: Where do I actually buy the clubs you write about?
A: From a retailer, not from us. Our guides link to retailers who stock the product, and sometimes to the manufacturer directly. You buy from them, under their terms — their pricing, their shipping, their returns.

Q: Are the prices in your guides accurate?
A: They were accurate when we checked them, and they will drift. Prices change constantly and vary by retailer, region, and promotion. Treat any figure in a guide as a reference point for comparing models, and confirm the real number on the retailer’s page before you buy.

Q: Do you get paid more if I buy a certain brand?
A: No — and if we did, it would not change the recommendation. Commission rates differ between programs, but a product with no affiliate program at all can still appear in a guide if it is the right answer, and a well-paying product that is not the right answer does not appear because of the money. That rule is written into our Affiliate Disclosure.

Q: Do you offer discounts or coupon codes?
A: We do not sell anything, so we have no codes to hand out. Any promotion we mention comes from the retailer running it, and we point you at their page rather than a code of our own. We would rather not invent urgency that does not exist.

About FairwayWise

Q: Who is FairwayWise? Are you a real company?
A: FairwayWise is an independent golf gear publication operating from the United States. We are not affiliated with PGM Golf or any other brand we write about, and we are not an authorized dealer for anyone. Read more on our About page.

Q: How do I contact you?
A: Email [email protected]. We respond within 1 business day, usually faster. No phone tree, no chatbot — a person reads it. For more detail, see our Contact page.

Q: Do you have a physical store or a showroom?
A: No. We are a publication, not a retailer, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to try on. If you want to handle a club before buying, a local pro shop or a fitting centre is the right place — and a proper fitting will tell you more about your own swing than any guide can.

Q: Is my personal information safe with you?
A: There is very little of it to protect. This site has no checkout and no accounts, so we never receive a payment method or a shipping address. We use Google Analytics 4, we name it plainly rather than hiding behind vague wording, and we never sell or trade data. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Q: Something in a guide is wrong or out of date. Can I tell you?
A: Please do — that is the most useful email we get. Send the article URL and what you think is incorrect. We correct the article itself rather than quietly deleting the page. Details are in our Editorial Policy.
