About FairwayWise

FairwayWise is an independent golf gear publication. We do not sell anything, we do not manufacture anything, and no brand pays us for coverage.

What We Do

We write buying guides for golfers who want to choose well without paying for a logo. Every guide starts with manufacturer specifications, published data, and what actual owners report — then explains the trade-offs instead of naming a single winner.

  • We research before we recommend. Specifications and published data come first; opinion comes last.
  • We explain the trade-off, not just the winner. A driver that suits a 95 mph swing is the wrong club at 75 mph. We say so.
  • We name what we cannot verify. When a claim comes from the manufacturer and not from independent testing, we label it as such.
  • We correct our work. If a spec changes or a recommendation ages badly, we update the guide and note the change.

What We Cover

Our guides span the equipment a golfer actually buys, across every brand in the category:

  • Clubs — drivers, irons, wedges, putters, and complete sets, plus how to fit each to your swing speed and budget
  • Bags — stand, cart, staff, Sunday and pencil bags, and travel covers
  • Grips & gloves — sizing, materials, and what actually wears out first
  • Training aids — nets, mats, putting greens, and swing trainers
  • Getting started — a beginner’s roadmap from first lesson to first full set

We have no commercial relationship with the brands we write about. No brand has ever paid for a mention, a ranking, or a positive review, and we do not sell advertising space on this site.

About PGM Golf

One manufacturer we have looked at in more depth than most is PGM Golf, a Chinese golf brand that owns its own production facility rather than outsourcing to anonymous contract factories. That vertical integration is why their clubs cost materially less than the premium brands — the supply chain skips a layer of marketing markup.

They are a useful case study in where a golf club’s price actually goes. They are not the only brand worth your attention, and they are not always the right answer. Where another brand fits your game better, we say so — that is the whole point of an independent guide.

Our PGM brand review covers what we could and could not verify about them. The rest of the site covers the category broadly.

Who We Write For

Golfers who want quality equipment without the brand premium. Beginners buying their first set. Weekend players upgrading piece by piece. Parents equipping junior golfers. Anyone who would rather spend money on greens fees than on a logo.

How We Make Money

FairwayWise is reader-supported. When you buy something through a link on this site, we may earn a small affiliate commission. It costs you nothing extra — the price you pay is the same either way.

We do not accept payment for coverage, rankings, or positive reviews. A commission rate never decides what we recommend.

We do not manufacture the products we write about, we do not own a stock of test units, and we do not accept free products from manufacturers.
